Great Gatsby & Soundtrack

Let it be known that The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. This post will state the love and frustration for the book and the soundtrack or at least the song used in the official trailer.

This is no shot to Jay-Z. This is no shot to the director who choose to make him the producer of the music used in the movie. . . . well. . . it is a shot to the director. The Great Gatsby is a movie and book set in the roaring 20s. Let me repeat set in the roaring 20s.

So when I watched the trailer, because I am excited for the movie, and hear “No Church in the Wild” by Jay-Z, Kanye West and Frank Ocean, I almost flipped my lid. Firstly, when the album “Watch the Throne” came out that song was in almost every action movie.

What purpose does that song play in a movie that is set in the 20s? SERIOUSLY WHAT PURPOSE!

I also play video games . . . and Jay-Z produced the basketball game 2k13. If it wasn’t a Jay-Z song, it was a Kanye West song, or someone from G.O.O.D. music or someone who they’ve worked with. I wanted to shoot the tv. OH and you saw a Jay-Z concert before the game began -.-

I hope and pray that there is not a hip hop song being played during the movie. . . I will be so upset.

Thank you for reading my vent.
